Everything is swinging when talented tenor man Brandon Wright serves the music up hot and tasty on his 2010 debut release "Boiling Point" on Posi-Tone. On this cooking session, Wright turns up the heat and dishes it out with the serviceable assistance of pianist David Kikoski, bassist Hans Glawischnig and drummer Matt Wilson in the rhythm section, and when trumpet virtuoso Alex Sipiagin steps into the front line, Brandon pushes the envelope further as a saxophonist and really demonstrates his command of the instrument. Critical listeners will enjoy the amazing program of original compositions and timeless melodies and should agree that "Boiling Point" succeeds in announcing that Brandon Wright is someone new to keep an eye on for many years to come. From the opening salvo to the final crescendo, "Boiling Point" keeps swinging hard and is sure to delight straight ahead jazz fans everywhere.
